RATHER RARE – GORHAM STERLING ASIAN CHINOISERIE COCKTAIL SHAKER & TRAY SET  – DEALERS SAY THERE ARE NO EQUIVALENT SETS IN AUCTION RECORDS
Pre-Prohibition circa 1917 VERY EARLY ART DECO ERA PIECES – 24+ OUNCE 9 INCH TALL COCKTAIL SHAKER on MATCHING ORIGINAL 12 INCH CIRCULAR TRAY WITH THE SAME FABULOUS CHINOISERIE MOTIF HAND ENGRAVED CHASING WORK DEPICTING URN, TEMPLE, VILLAGERS AND EVEN A PIG ALL WITHIN A REEDED STEPPED RIM TRAY THAT HAS THE MATCHING SWAG AND CROSS EDGING DETAIL AS IS DONE ON THE COCKTAIL SHAKER – THIS WAS NOT A MASS PRODUCED ITEM.
Forgive our poor description of the this most grand piece of art!
Both the shaker and tray have underneath the Gorham sterling hallmark and the “Dagger” mark that was used for 1917 – the set was retailed by Philadelphia’s famous JE Caldwell & Company – on par with Tiffany & Co. – this truly is a rather rare set, very possibly unique / special order solid sterling silver cocktail set with the typical cocktail shaker cylinder form with jigger top, openwork strainer, with custom wonderful hand chasing details, no monograms, hallmarked as pictured.  Shaker stands about 9 inches tall, the 12 inch round heavy tray has the same Asian motif hand engraved – serve your cocktails in grand high regal style!
This was stored away carefully when not used for special family celebratory occasions.  We want this beautiful Edwardian / Gatsby Era shaker set, as well as other pieces from our family collection of Victorian Age to Deco Era silver to go to an appreciative home or museum.
SPLENDOR FROM A BYGONE ERA – SUPERB AMERICAN STERLING SILVER

These are not made like this anymore.  Offered here is an estate item with patina of gentle use and fun.  This hefty superb set is by any standard, not a scrap item.  This is set is in great condition for an antique – view pictures as we show the few use dings etc.
An Extraordinary Early American Art Deco Age / Edwardian period SUPERB ESTATE ITEM CONDITION piece, see the pictures – used on special occasions and well taken care of.  And overall this shows most minimal use – it is an antique – but it is in very good condition.  No evidence of repairs nor monogram removals.
Heavy older pattern that
was hand crafted – not like the ones made today.
This is real show piece!
This is an heirloom quality collection item.  Collector’s items, yet eminently appropriate for contemporary use.
Parents were serious about entertaining in a way I am not.  My family invested in quality items for gracious living.
CONDITION:  VERY GOOD – keep in mind it is used 100+ years – from the last century — evidence of use — older, not brand new.  As seen in pictures this looks nice!  Great wedding gift item.
Lots of Really Great Stunning items to a
dd to your collection.  Starting each lot at very reasonable prices.
Please review picture(s) for condition etc.  Not new, but Used Good Estate Condition with expected use on treasured old items.  No Monograms or Removals not noted –  Some hand washing/polishing needed!
Vintage heirloom quality, these were used for 30+ years for entertaining, as the items were acquired post World War II.
This is an outstanding, truly versatile, group/set of good weight/heft, elegant pattern.  Bid based on info above, but know these were from a very good collection of very fine household goods that were well taken care of.
Expect general marks, spots, scratches, wear and patina commensurate with age and use of treasured serverware/flatware used for special meals/holidays.  All this has been stored away in the box for many years and a simple cleaning/polishing will make it look even more elegant on your table.
Most or all hosts would feel quite comfortable using this when entertaining the most special guests in your home.
Please review other listings now & later…  Silver – More Gorham Chantilly
